Islay Single Malt Whisky

Let's start off with a picture, a picture of a wee dram of single malt whisky. In this case a Laphroaig. Coincidentally my favourite whisky as well... Islay and Single Malt Whisky. For a Single Malt Whisky drinker probably a synonym. Islay Single Malt Whiskies are famous for their distinctive peaty flavour. And Islay has several to offer...
Islay has eight distilleries and another one can be found on the Isle of Jura just across the Sound of Islay. In no particular order (apart from my favourite being the first) these are: Laphroaig Ardbeg Lagavulin Caol Ila Bunnahabhain Bruichladdich Bowmore Kilchoman, Islay's Farm Distillery Isle of Jura	There are too many whisky sites out there for me to give you any more details on the production process than they can do much better.
