Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (Cancer research institute) The Neckar with the old bridge in the background
We began our day in Heidelberg near Imke's work: At the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German cancer research institute), where we left the car to go into town. First stop was one of the bridges over the Neckar with a nice view up the river with the old bridge in the background. We then walked along the river until the castle came in sight and it was time for a few tourist pictures.

The Vetter Brauhaus (Micro brewery)We had our lunch in the Vetter Alt- Heidelberger Brauhaus (Vetter Micro Brewery). I had some excellent Bratkartoffeln mit Spiegelei (Fried potatoes with fried egg). I can recommend it should you ever be in Heidelberg. It's quite easy to find, just follow the road from the old bridge into Heidelberg old town. Tourist picture: Imke having lunch at Vetter BrauhausWhen we finished our lunch the sun started to come out again, so after a short stroll through the old town of Heidelberg it was time for a visit to the Heidelberger Schloss (Heidelberg Castle). We decided to take the Bergbahn (Cable Railway) for the way up to the castle (picture below right).
