Heidelberg 2001 - Town and Neckar River


We began our day in Heidelberg near Imke's work: At the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German cancer research institute), where we left the car to go into town. First stop was one of the bridges over the Neckar with a nice view up the river with the old bridge in the background. We then walked along the river until the castle came in sight and it was time for a few tourist pictures.

We had our lunch in the Vetter Alt- Heidelberger Brauhaus (Vetter Micro Brewery). I had some excellent Bratkartoffeln mit Spiegelei (Fried potatoes with fried egg). I can recommend it should you ever be in Heidelberg. It's quite easy to find, just follow the road from the old bridge into Heidelberg old town.	When we finished our lunch the sun started to come out again, so after a short stroll through the old town of Heidelberg it was time for a visit to the Heidelberger Schloss (Heidelberg Castle). We decided to take the Bergbahn (Cable Railway) for the way up to the castle (picture below right).
