On my way to and from the Isle of Skye I travelled through parts of the Highlands of Scotland, stopping in Fort William on the way up and in Glen Coe on the return.

From Fort William I took the famous steam train out to Mallaig, stopping at Glenfinnan Station on the way. While I didn't even think about climbing Ben Nevis (I hadn't really got into hillwalking yet in 1999) I at least had a look at Glen Nevis. While it was quite cloudy for most of the time the sun came through for a brief moment for a nice view over Loch Garry. On the way back to Glasgow I stopped in Glen Coe, first for a short walk near the visitor centre and later for nice view of the famous Blackrock Cottage with Buachaille Etive Mor in the background.
