The Armin Grewe Homepage

Most of my pictures from the Isle of Islay only show a small area. On this page I will collect pictures showing you a little bit more: Quicktime VR Panoramas of the whisky distilleries on Islay. To view them you will need the Apple QuickTime plugin installed on your PC. The previews on this page give you an impression of what to expect, follow the links under the previews for the full experience. Note: Most of the panoramas are quite big, depending on your connection speed they might take a while to download.

Picture of a panoramic view over a small sea loch with a distillery (Laphroaig) on the shore

A view over Loch Laphroaig with the Laphroaig Distillery (2MB download). This panorama was taken on a calm summer afternoon in August 2006, the clouds just breaking up a little. You can see a number of distillery buildings on the shore of the loch and also look out to the sea with Texa in the distance.

Picture of a panoramic view over a distillery (Lagavulin) from a pier

A view over Lagavulin Distillery (2MB download) from the pier in Lagavulin Bay. Taken on the same afternoon as the Laphroaig panorama just down the road. A good impression of how close the distillery buildings are to the shore.

Picture of a panoramic view over a distillery (Ardbeg) in the late afternoon light

You were expecting this, weren't you? Yes, the third panorama is the next one on the south coast of Islay, a view of Ardbeg Distillery in the late afternoon sun (2.6MB download). Taken on the same afternoon as the two above.

Picture of a distillery at a rugged coastline

A different view of Ardbeg taken a year later in the Ardbeg Distillery and Coastline Panorama, Islay (5MB download). The view is from a small hill just west of the distillery, overlooking the distillery and Loch an t-Sàilein. Taken in mid June 2007.

Picture of a coastal village with a distillery, seen from the pier

A view over Bruichladdich village with Bruichladdich Distillery (2.4MB download). The panorama, taken from Bruichladdich Pier, covers most of the village, the distillery and a small part of the coastline along Loch Indaal. Taken in mid June 2007.

More panoramas will follow here

More to come over time, when I had the chance to take pictures and put them together into a panorama. If you have any suggestions please send me an email and I'll see what I can do during one of my visits to Islay.
