| [Home -> History of The Armin Grewe Homepage] [Contact] |
I started with my homepage some time in May or June 1999 (If I remember correctly). At that time it was on the space my ISP provided (something like 10MB) and under the rather cumbersome URL http://home.knuut.de/armin.grewe/ (link doesn't exist any more). After a few months I became more ambitious and registered my own domains: www.armin-grewe.de and www.armin-grewe.com. Initially they were both with Strato, now I've moved the .com domain to Schlund + Partner.
This page lists the various older updates which happened since I registered my domains. Whenever the list on the homepage is growing too long I will move some of it to this page. Some of the links listed below might not work any more because I removed the pages, in that case you will get my nice 404 file not found message ;-).

With the frustration of having to abandon the guestbook behind me I turned my mind to the WalkIslay 2005 travelogue again and completed the page for our day walking on the Isle of Jura. More to come soon hopefully.
Previous update 05 May 2005
Some bad news: Unfortunately there will be quite a few dead links on pretty much the whole site now. The reason? I've removed the guestbook. Why? It was just not sustainable any longer. Invisible for most of you, but not for me. The spam just took over. There were just too many spam messages in it every day, which I had to remove. Most of them were for things I don't want my visitors to see, so I had to almost constantly monitor it to be able to quickly enough remove these messages. I even had to get my mother to help me out when I was away. I tried a few fixes, none of them really stopped the flood. So I decided to pull the plug today. Thank the spammers for breaking a good thing.
I'll start removing the links soon, until then there will be quite a few "404's". You can still send me feedback through my Feedback form though. The spammers haven't broken that yet...
Previous update 03 May 2005

I'm back! It will take a while to complete my travelogue, but the first pages from my sisters and my holidays in Scotland 2001 are now online. Try the pages from my sisters week in Tomintoul first: Tomintoul Riding Centre, Glenlivet Estate and the Glenlivet trail. Watch this space for further updates.
Previous update 27 Jun 2001
A rather short update: Changed/updated the holidays in Scotland 2001 page to reflect the latest status. This will be the last update until I return from my holidays in mid July. Expect a lot of pages with lots of pictures then...
Previous update 26 Jun 2001
Completed the second of the two promised pages: The page about Bradford-on-Avon is now online as the latest addition to my Swindon & Wiltshire pages
Previous update 25 Jun 2001
First of the two promised pages is complete: Added the page about The Courts Garden. The page about Bradford-on-Avon should follow within the next few days.
Previous update 24 Jun 2001
Not much happening here at the moment. The reason? Here's the reason: www.grewe.co.uk. It's my second site with my weblog. Nevertheless, you can expect an update to this site very soon: I went to The Courts Garden and Bradford on Avon today. Expect the pictures in the next 2-3 days. At least one page received a quick update though: The page with the countries where my visitors came from.
Previous update 13 Jun 2001
Well, that's done again: The Sitemap is updated, so you can use it to check the structure of this site and what other pages there are
Previous update 12 Jun 2001
Started with the cleanup and moved some entries from this list to the History page. While doing that realised that it's now around 2 years ago that I first published a page on the web. Luckily no trace of that first page exists any more...
Previous update 11 Jun 2001
Added the third and last page to the pages about Stourhead Estate: Pictures of and views from King Alfred's Tower. This page/listing is growing rather long, looks like I need to start moving entries to the history page soon. Probably once I get round to prepare a preview page about the Wiltshire White Horses. And update the sitemap.
Previous update 10 June 2001
Added the page about Stourhead House and Stourton Village to the pages about Stourhead Estate
Previous update 09 Jun 2001
Started work on the pages about Stourhead Estate, the first page to go live is the page about Stourhead Garden. This garden is a magnificent example of an English landscaped garden, with beautiful views over a lake surrounded by exotic trees and shrubs.
Previous update 08 Jun 2001
Well, nothing new here really. Just to let you know that I'm busy with another project at the moment: I'm "relaunching" (as they say) the family website: www.grewenet.de. Nevertheless, I hope to add a few pages about Stourhead Estate to the Swindon & Wiltshire pages some time this weekend.
Previous update 29 May 2001
After a very cloudy Sunday at least the Bank Holiday Monday produced a little bit of sunshine. Not much, but enough for a visit to Lacock Abbey. I guess I'll have to return for the village another time...
Previous update 27 May 2001
After the visit to Bowood Rhododendron Walks last weekend, it was time for a visit to Bowood House and Gardens this weekend. My Swindon & Wiltshire pages continue to grow...
Previous update 21 May 2001
Another mostly grey and overcast weekend, although I managed to catch the few hours with a little bit of sunshine for a visit to Bowood Rhododendron Walks. Amazing colours from lots of Rhododendrons in full bloom.
Previous update 13 May 2001
Well, unfortunately the weather didn't keep its promise from yesterday, so I cancelled the visit to Stourhead I had originally planned. Instead I went to Castle Combe, a beautiful village not too far away.
Previous update 12 May 2001
Has spring finally really arrived? A lovely warm day, which I used for another visit to Avebury. Added a page with pictures from Avebury Stone Circle to the Swindon & Wiltshire pages. Also managed to take a few pictures from another one of the Wiltshire White Horses, I hope to be able to get a first version of the page online some time in May or June.
Previous update 07 May 2001
Now the "About me" page follows the same design as this page as the spring clean continues. Getting there... Also used the last day of the Bank Holiday weekend to do some baking: Added a recipe for Soda bread to the Baking with Armin page.
Previous update 06 May 2001
Well, after a good start Bank Holiday weather came back as it should be: cloudy and cold. So I just stayed at home did some more spring cleaning: The Charles Rennie Mackintosh page received a little facelift.
Previous update 05 May 2001
The Bank Holiday Weekend surprises with much better weather than expected, so I went to Crofton Pumping Station. The Swindon & Wiltshire pages continue to grow with this addition. I've started to collect pictures of the White Horses, although it will probably still take a while until I will be ready to prepare a page with them.
Previous update 02 May 2001
Some more spring cleaning complete, the "Thank you" pages after submitting a form (e.g. Feedback form or Recommendation form) now point to the right pages again. Also updated my German page: Meine Deutschen Besucher können jetzt etwas mehr lesen. Finally completed the first visitor request for the Isle of Islay wallpapers page by adding a picture of Bunnahabhain Distillery.
Previous update 30 Apr 2001
Spring clean is progressing, the Links, Friends & Shopping section should now be more or less tidied up. Also changed the feedback form to reflect the new structure. And more updates to the Sitemap
Previous update 29 Apr 2001
The Charles Rennie Mackintosh "wallpaper" page now has it's own feedback option. I also started a wee "spring clean exercise": I decided to get rid of some pages and restructure other areas. So you might get something like this when trying certain links... Also moved a few entries from this list to the history page and started to update the Sitemap
Previous update 28 Apr 2001
Added a page about a visit to Malmesbury to the Swindon & Wiltshire pages. Spring seems to have arrived finally...
Previous update 23 Apr 2001
Well, thank you to those of you who remembered my birthday and sent me a letter or called (Don't know when my birthday is? Try here or here). Some progress on my USA 1993 report: One page added with pictures from Redondo Beach (and neighbouring beaches).
Previous update 21 Apr 2001
The Isle of Islay "wallpapers" are here, now you can decorate your computer with pictures from the Isle of Islay. Four pictures available so far, or ask me for a picture you would like to see...
Previous update 18 Apr 2001
Not much new today, just some cosmetic stuff like removing the Easter page link from the top of this page and updating a few links on my Links page as well as adding some more information and links to the "My Sources" page. And again moved a few entries from this page to the History page. New pages to follow once I find the time for them, see below for what I'm planning (among other things)...
Previous update 11 Apr 2001
Just a quick update before Easter: Updated the Sitemap with the new pages. And in preparation for the upcoming long weekend I prepared the Happy Easter 2001 page, visit it for my Easter greetings. This might be the last update until some time after Easter, new pages I'm planning to work on are a page with Isle of Islay "wallpapers" (similar to the ones I offer for Charles Rennie Mackintosh) and more pages to the report from my 9 months in the USA 1993.
Previous update 10 Apr 2001
Finally it's done: I've set up my own forum for Charles Rennie Mackintosh. So far this forum was hosted externally, it's now hosted under my own domain giving me more freedom in regards to design and functionality. I hope to find quite a few new entries in the forum soon...
Previous update 07 Apr 2001
After almost a month of working intermittently at it, it is finally done: The Sailing from Scotland to the Faroe Islands 1997 travelogue is complete! I would appreciate your thoughts about it via my feedback page.
Previous update 06 Apr 2001
Getting there, only two pages remaining I need to complete. Two more pages added to the Sailing from Scotland to the Faroe Islands 1997 travelogue: STS Malcolm Miller and a tour of the Endeavour. I hope to finish these pages this weekend and then to also update the sitemap.
